Am I doing the right thing in the classroom
?
-
- Helping Students Remain
Enthusiastic.
-
- To motivate the students properly-
-
the teacher should use things that interest
the students, not the teacher. We should remember, too, that students
will do thier best and try to please teachers who work hard
and expect their student to do so.
-
- To meet the students' desire -
-
The teacher should discover which student cannot
read or write the alphabet correctly
-
and arrange two or three special periodos for them,
making it clear that they will not be
-
able to learn English without mastering the alphabet.
-
- To improve pronunciation -
-
For improvement in pronunciation the teacher should
use minimal pairs such as :
-
bad-bed / sheet-shit , showing how the difference
in meaning.
-
- Handwriting should be improved -
-
By using the chalkboard with assistance of the airboard,
i.e., the teacher writes on the
-
board and at the same time the students practice
writing in the air. This save the time it
-
would take the students to come to the board or write
in ther copybooks, and it enables the teacher to check the writing of a
large group of students at glance, especially in overcrowed classes.
-
- Teacher the proper use of a pocket dictionary -
-
Teacher should encorage the students to use the
pocket dictionary. This new skill can
-
be taught in two periods or less, and it will save
the time and effort of explaining the
-
most difficult words of the next lesson on the board.

Enthusiastic and Motivation
-
Teachers of English as a foreign language always
need to be aware of the importance
-
of introducing classroom activities that promote
interest and motivation.
-
If carefully planned and prepared, these activities
will guarantee safisctory exposure to
-
the target language .
-
Remember that one common reason for learners' bad
performance is the fact that they
-
have been exposed only slightly to the target language.
-
A good teacher can change thing in the classroom
if he is determined to provide every
-
possible way to put the learner in a challenging
situation where he may be prepared to
-
acquire the target language.
-
Learners must be encouraged to over come their deeply
rooted fears of the target
-
language. In time, psychological barries collapse
and fears vanish. Nothing helps
-
more effectively in pulling down those psychological
barries than the teacher's and
-
learners' unshakeble resolution to use the target
language communicatively inside and
-
outside the classroom. There is an unlimite number
of activities a teacher can use in class. Our creative manipulation of the
reach resources will, in the long run, lead to
-
satisfactory acquisition of the English language.
